The 4C’s Diamond
The Diamond, of the Greek word “adamas” which means unconquerable, owes its name to its unique hardness.
Diamond creations by Yolande Morand are all certified by leading international laboratories. Our rigorous selection criteria refers to a perfect 4C.
CARAT (weight) : unit of measurement used in the field of gems since ancient times, a carat is 0.20 grams.
COLOUR (colour) : The international calibrated colour range of diamond is expressed by a letter going from D to Z, D being a perfectly colourless diamond and Z a diamond having a slight hue of yellow. Diamond
creations by Yolande Morand are within the narrow range of high quality white diamonds (D to H).
CLARITY (purity) : the presence or absence of inclusions or imperfections in diamonds is detected when viewed from above at 10 X magnification. Clarity grades range from Internally Flawless (IF) to Pique 3 (P1 or I1). The presence of too many inclusions affects the quality of the stone. Diamond creations by Yolande Morand are high clarity grade (SI1).
CUT (proportions) : A diamond’s brilliance is determined by its cut and ideal proportions. The cut of a diamond is graded in 5 steps from Ideal to Fair and Poor. Diamonds creations by Yolande Morand meet the standards of Fair to Ideal. Pear, cushion, princess and many different variations, which are a further guarantee of originality.
Gems of colour
A stone is considered a gem depending on the intensity of its color, its size, weight, purity and rarity.
Gemstones such as rubies and sapphires belong to the group of corundum and emerald beryl group. According to the Mohs scale, these gemstones are the hardest after diamond. Gemstones such as amethysts, aquamarines, tourmalines, peridots are valued as gems according to their qualities. For all these stones, some natural inclusions add a quirky charm.
